Here is how this works in practice. A Director of Photography shapes the visual narrative of a production through creative decisions about lighting, camera movement, lens selection, and composition. Turkey's extraordinary filming locations — from Istanbul's Byzantine and Ottoman skyline to the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia — and its booming television production industry (the world's second-largest TV exporter) have fostered a large community of highly skilled DPs skilled in both local and global shoots.

Here is the short of it. We connect you with skilled Directors of Photography who know both the creative and practical demands of your production. Whether you are shooting at Korda Studios Istanbul or on location along the Turquoise Coast, our team matches your project with DPs who bring the right visual sensibility, supported by Turkey's production incentive through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Digital Engagement

On Location

Turkey's deep cinematography talent pool — shaped by award-winning DPs such as Gokhan Tiryaki, who shot Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Palme d'Or-winning 'Winter Sleep' — gives international productions access to seasoned directors of photography across Istanbul, Antalya and Cappadocia.

Here is how the picture comes together. We place directors of photography tied to genre, format and budget, drawing on a crew base built by Turkey's vast television-drama industry. This makes the country the world's second-largest exporter of TV series after the United States. That episodic volume has produced DPs who are fast, in tech fluent and cost-competitive, comfortable moving between feature, commercial and documentary work. Our team sets up the full camera department around each DP — focus pullers, operators, DITs and grips — and arranges cinema bodies from ARRI, RED and Sony through Istanbul rental houses.

Here is what we have to work with. We handle tech scouts, lens testing and lighting plans during pre-production, and on shoot days the DP leads the camera department in close joint work with the director. Whether you are working on an Istanbul 'plato' sound stage or on location along the Turquoise Coast, we align the right visual sensibility with practical local knowledge of crews, suppliers and permits.

Here is the layout. Turkey gives cinematographers extraordinary range within compact distances — the changing light on the Bosphorus, the otherworldly rock landscapes and fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale, and the classic ruins of Ephesus and Pergamon. Foreign shoots secure filming permits through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with extra clearances for museums, archaeological sites and the Bosphorus, and our DPs and line producers plan shot schedules around those approvals. Qualifying shoots can access the Ministry's cash rebates of up to 30% on Turkish spend, administered through its General Directorate of Cinema, while the favourable Turkish lira adds further cost advantage. We brief DPs early on these regulatory and budget factors so creative drive stays aligned with what each location and permit window allows.

FAQ

Our DP Network

What experience levels of DPs do you provide?

Here is the breakdown. We give DPs across all experience levels: emerging cinematographers for indie and low-budget projects, mid-level DPs with solid commercial and documentary credits, and senior DPs with feature film and global broadcast experience. We match experience to your budget and project needs.

How do you match DPs to projects?

We review your creative brief, reference materials, and budget to shortlist DPs with relevant genre experience and aesthetic alignment. You receive curated showreels and can request direct conversations with candidates before booking.

What camera systems do your DPs work with?

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Our DPs are proficient across all major cinema camera systems including ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, Blackmagic, and Canon cinema lines. Many specialize in specific systems but all are adaptable to production needs and rental availability.

Do DPs come with their own equipment?

Some owner-operator DPs bring personal camera packages, while others work with rented gear. We set up gear sourcing based on your preference and budget, whether through DP-owned gear, rental houses, or production-given gear.

Can you provide international DPs for shoots in Turkey?

Yes. We can source global DPs for shoots in Turkey, handling work permits and logistics. We also give Turkish DPs for global shoots needing local cinematography talent abroad.

What's included in DP day rates?

Standard DP day rates cover on-set cinematography services during production hours. Pre-production work (tech scouts, shot listing, meetings) is mostly billed separately. Gear, camera assistants, and late hours are extra based on project scope.

Productions in Turkey that need this often pair it with Steadicam & Gimbal Operators, Drone Videography, and Underwater Camera Operators for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Virtual Production and Production Services.
