Here is the layout. Turkey's screenwriting culture is shaped by two strong traditions. Its auteur cinema is worldwide honoured. Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who often writes his own films, took the Palme d'Or for 'Winter Sleep' and the Cannes Grand Prix for 'Once Upon a Time in Anatolia', while Yılmaz Güney wrote 'Yol' from prison. Alongside this runs the vast 'dizi' industry. This has made the country the world's second-largest exporter of television series after the United States and built writers fluent in long-form serialised storytelling, from historical epics like 'Magnificent Century' to streaming originals such as 'The Protector'. University film and writing programmes feed new talent into both strands, sustaining a deep, versatile pool of Turkish screenwriting talent.
